Colorado overwhelmingly rejected an anti-abortion proposal that would have given unborn fetuses human rights in the state constitution. This would of course outlaw any abortions because they would have said rights at the moment of conception.
Have you ever noticed how they seem to care so much about a fetus, but once that child is born they could give a crap? Like say, if that child was a girl and she got raped and pregnant.
I'm also reminded of the clip in Legally Blonde where Elle is making an argument about a man who is trying to get custody of a child he barely knows:
Elle: "Although Mr. Huntington makes an excellent point, I have to wonder if the defendent kept a thorough record of every sperm emission made through out his life."
Professor Callahan: "Interesting. Why do you ask?"
Elle: "Well, unless the defendant attempted to contact every single one night stand to determine if a child resulted in those unions, he has no parental claim over this child whatsoever. Why now? Why this sperm?"
Professor Callahan: "I see your point."
Elle: "And for that matter, all masterbatory emissions where his sperm clearly was not seeking an egg could be termed reckless abandonment."
Professor Callahan: "I believe you've just won your case."
I think if you go as far to claim that at conception the fetus has rights they should go even further to prosecute men for reckless abandonment of sperm!
